Author and horror movie supremo Clive Barker has never been short of a film adaptation or two, and he has another book on its way to Hollywood. For once, however, this isn't a story about a man with pins in his face or a hook-handed man with a sweet tooth. No, this one's, y'know, for kids, with Disney behind the wheel having bought the rights to the series for a whopping $8 million and Dune miniseries screenwriter John Harrison handling the adaptation. Abarat is the story of Candy Quackenbush from Chickentown, Minnesota, who is mysteriously transported to the magical archipelago of Abarat where each of the islands represent a different hour of the day and is characterised by that time of day
