With Kiefer Sutherland off starring on his other TV series Designated Survivor, 24 is heading further into the post-Jack Bauer era. Following the attempt at a limited series and reboot 24: Legacy, new ideas for the franchise are being explored, including a female led law thriller series.

Regular producer Howard Gordon is at work on a script for Fox TV in the States alongside Jeremy Doner. If it is approved by the network, the plan is to focus on a female prosecutor who uncovers a conspiracy and works against the clock to save a death row inmate she helped to jail who might be innocent.

According to Deadline, the concept would kick off a new, anthology version of 24 featuring a new spin on the ticking clock format each season, with different characters and a fresh concept. Right now, it's all at an early stage with just a script order and a variety of possible versions in consideration, but we'll have to see what the future holds for the 24 world.
