It's been about, oooh, five minutes since we reported (here) that Roland Emmerich was shopping around a new disaster movie to studios, so naturally it's already been snapped up. Yes, the good folk at Sony will be the ones turning a buck from the end of the world - although they better hope for a good opening weekend given that the world's going to end three years after release.
The price tag of the film is reportedly near $200 million, with shooting due to begin in late summer / early autumn this year. Several studios competed to impress Emmerich with their marketing plans, but he went with Sony - who previously distributed his Godzilla, but let's not dwell on the past.
In the meantime, those of you hankerin' for some Emmerich-y goodness, or at least Emmerich-y property destruction and general mammoth mayhem, have only to hold out until March 14, when 10,000BC is finally released to the public.
