While any console racer worth its salt will allow players to get under the hood of their motor and fiddle with its settings, this Alfa Romeo-endorsed speed-fest allows you to tinker with the driver instead.

Much like in a role-playing game, players accumulate experience points as they win races, credits which can be spent on developing human skills such as intimidation and endurance to psych-out your opponents on the track. But while SCAR's odd approach brings a little strategy to the blistering action, slippery car handling, sloppy brakes and frustratingly-smart opponents let the side down.
