Though Phil Lord and Chris Miller might not be having the best luck with their time in the galaxy far, far away, the untitled animated Spider-Man movie they wrote and are producing for Sony is coming along nicely. Mahershala Ali and Brian Tyree Henry are joining the voice cast.

The animated Spidey adventure will be separate from the world that next month's Spider-Man: Homecoming inhabits, portraying comics alternative hero Miles Morales in the Spider-outfit. Dope's Shameik Moore is providing his vocals, with Liev Schreiber on to be an unnamed villain.

With Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey in the director's chair, the new additions are, according to The Tracking Board's sources, key members of Miles' family. Oscar winner Ali will be his uncle, Aaron Davis, a man who cares for his nephew but lives on the other side of the law. And Henry is playing his detective father, Jefferson Davis.

This Spider-story will be in cinemas on 14 December next year. Ali is part of the cast for Alita: Battle Angel (out 20 July, 2018) and is attached to Triple Frontier. Henry, who appears on hit US TV series Atlanta, has a number of films in the works, including Hotel Artemis, White Boy Rick and Widows.
