The History Boys, Tessa Jowell MP, Stormbreaker producer Marc Samuelson and Colourful Radio’s Henry Bonsu were just some of the special guests ensconced in the Odeon West End yesterday, as the cinema played host to this year’s Young Film Critic Awards.

With entrants ranging from 4 to 18 years old, the event also heralded the opening of National Schools Film Week – a new initiative from Film Education that aims to encourage children’s love of the movies. Candidates were asked to watch and review any film from cinema, DVD, video or television. From over 2,500 entries, the final nominees in each category were chosen. Congratulations to the following winners:

Young Film Critic category 15-18 years old: Grace Blackman (Age 18)

Young Film Critic 11-14 years old: Max Eshraghi (Age 13)

Junior Film Critic Category: Helen Doherty (Age 11)

Mini Film Fan: Lily Patrick (Age 6)

Each winner received a Yamaha Home Theatre System and a Smartboard interactive whiteboard for their school.
