Verbinski Going Animated For Next Film

After several years spent trying to wrangle the Pirates of the Caribbean movies into being – which would probably have killed most directors – Gore Verbinski is switching his attention to animation for his next project. Wise man; it's very difficult for animated sets to get flooded.

Verbinski is planning a $100 million animation with Oscar-winning Graham King (The Departed) producing and John Logan (Sweeney Todd) writing the script. The plot is still currently under wraps.

Verbinski will be bringing a couple of his Pirates co-horts over to the project with him. Mark McCreery, creature designer on the first movie, and James Ward Brykit, art director on the trilogy, will both work on the film.
