Star Trek Into Darkness

It's been a long, hard wait for the latest mission from the U.S.S. Enterprise but that wait is finally at an end. Empire was among those privileged few to arrive at the IMAX Waterloo at the crack of dawn this morning for the first UK screening of J.J. Abrams' latest instalment: Star Trek Into Darkness, following in the footsteps of our Antipodean cousins who recently saw the film Down Under.

But where, you are doubtless asking, is the Empire review? Quite simply, like a good bottle of Grolsch, it's not ready yet. For a film of this magnitude and weight of expectation we are resisting the impulse to hack out a review just to get our star rating out there and have opted instead to take our time and make sure we give this film the review it richly deserves. Is it good? Yes it is, but to find out exactly how good you'll need to wait until Monday when the official **Empire **review is published. We know it's frustrating but we can assure you it will be worth the wait.

For those of you gnashing your teeth and twirling your Bat'leths in sheer frustration there is a glimmer of hope. While the review won't appear until Monday morning, we will be discussing the film in some detail (without spoilers) in Friday's Empire Podcast, so for an advance preview of the **Empire **verdict be sure to tune in.
