Ubisoft are the game developers behind a whole host of famous titles: Assassin's Creed (soon to be a movie), Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six (soon to be a movie) and the Raving Rabbids, also soon to be a movie, it's been announced today. "BWAAAAH!", indeed.

First seen in the Rayman series with 2006's Rayman Raving Rabbids, the Rabbids proved so popular they span off into a number of their own different party games, such as 2010's Raving Rabbids: Travel In Time, before landing on TV screens with late 2013's Rabbids Invasion. In short: they're stupid, they're violent, and they're taking over the world with their never-ending supply of plungers. Expect a** Despicable Me** Minions crossover approximately... never.

“Sony Pictures has tremendous experience developing hybrid live-action-and-animated blockbusters for audiences around the world, which makes them a natural fit for what we want to achieve with a Rabbids film,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, Executive Director of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “This deal deepens our partnership with Sony Pictures and highlights our holistic approach to bringing Ubisoft’s brands to new audiences while still maintaining the brands’ creative integrity.”

Sony Pictures Animation are the team behind the likes of The Smurfs and** Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatball****s**, so perhaps a similar animation style can be expected, though with the TV show so popular, it could stick to what it knows and just give the 20 minute version a big screen expansion. Take a look at the show's trailer below for a taste.
