When we learned that Gemma Arterton was to play a Bond girl in the next installment in the 007 franchise we were never quite convinced that she'd be the leading lady. Today Eon Productions has confirmed that another actress will be taking over main squeeze duties and that actress is Olga Kurylenko.

Kurylenko is probably most familiar so far in her career for appearing in the woeful Hitman, but she was also excellent in the much better The Serpent. In Bond 22 Kurylenko will play "the dangerously alluring Camille, who challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper's betrayal". If she's dangerously alluring, we're saying this is not going to end well.

Eon's press release also gives some further brief details on the villain to be played by Mathieu Amalric. He'll play Dominic Greene, a leading member of the criminal organisation introduced in Casino Royale and a powerful counterpart to Bond.

Casting is shaping up well on this movie. Amalric is a fantastic actor and Kurylenko has the right mix of talent and European comeliness to give Eva Green a run for her money.
