The red-band trailer for John Hillcoat's incendiary Triple 9 arrived a month or so ago. Now here's a new promo for the UK which, while less sweary, is no less intense. Check it out below.
Matt Cook wrote the script, which finds a crew of dirty cops blackmailed by the Russian mob into pulling off a near-impossible heist. In order to distract attention away from their complicated crime, they look to create an “officer down” situation – hence the code number - setting up an unsuspecting rookie (Casey Affleck) to die. He, however, has other ideas, and goes on the attack.
Affleck is just one element of a ridiculously starry cast that also includes Woody Harrelson, Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Norman Reedus, Teresa Palmer, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, Clifton Collins Jr... The list goes on. Hillcoat's most recent films have been the period-set The Proposition and Lawless, and the post-apocalypse The Road. So it'll be fascinating to see what he does with his first present-day story since Ghosts Of The Civil Dead.
Triple 9 kicks in the doors of UK cinemas on February 19 next year.
