The good folk at The Weinstein Company have been busy bringing the old West to the worldwide web, launching a site for Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained and delivering a new 60-second clip from the movie while they were about it. The newness isn't abundant in this collection of cuts, but we love the distinctive sound of Ennio Morricone's 'The Ecstasy of Gold'. It's a nice throughline to The Good, The Bad And The Ugly and other classic Westerns that gives way to the movie's funky musical motif to date, James Brown's 'The Payback' . The K-Billy crew would be proud.

Django Unchained is, of course, a 'Southern' rather than a Western, set as it is in the cotton fields of the 1800s Deep South, but the principles, and the lawless violence, are the same. Django (Jamie Foxx) is a freed slave who teams up with Christoph Waltz's bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz to kill a bunch of bad guys, free his wife (Kerry Washington) and generally put the world to bloody rights. Although not, it seems, if Leonardo DiCaprio's oily plantation owner, Calvin Candie, has any say in the matter.

Quentin Tarantino's slice of Southern fried mayhem is out in the UK on January 18, while those lucky blighters in the US get to see it from December 25. Merry Christmas, America!
