We were beginning to think that Wonderland director James Cox had turned his back on movies for good. Since his 2003 John Holmes drama, we've not heard a peep out of him - until now. He's signed on to bring horror studioDarkCastle's latest tale of terror to the screen, The Summoner.

As ever, Joel Silver is captaining the producer's team for the story of, according to The Hollywood Reporter, "a young man experimenting with the dark arts who summons a supernatural being into our world." Apparently, as always seems to be the way of these things, said supernatural being isn't very nice, and starts wreaking havoc, so it's up to our young antihero to get the genie back in the bottle.

There's no word yet on whether the story is a period piece or set present day, but we'd guess, based onDarkCastle's previous track record, at the latter. Casting is underway right now, so expect announcements in the next few weeks, or at least before the shoot begins in January.

Any suggestions?
