It's Red Dawn... in a game

Homefront Teaser Trailer

It's 2027, the world economy is in meltdown, a flu pandemic is spreading, Team America has presumably gone the way of the North Korean World Cup squad, and the United States has been successfully occupied by a nuclear-armed Greater Korean Republic. That's the frightening premise of Homefront, Kaos Studios' new first person shooter, where the Wolverines-style fightback begins.

If that scenario sounds a little far-fetched, well, maybe, but as you can see from the teaser below, there's enough atmospherics in the backstory to bring back memories of those Soviet airborne troops floating serenely down on Colorado. That's no coincidence. Homefront is partly the brainchild of John Milius, who gave us Red Dawn and the screenplay for Apocalypse Now, and who therefore won the Cold War on points.

Like Red Dawn, Homefront is set in Colorado where a determined resistance cell takes on the draconian Korean occupation force at its own game. You'll be joining them (hopefully without the blindfold). Expect plenty of thoughtful character development when its released early in 2011, and guns. Lots of guns.
