Okay, so Ealing films are not exactly new news - unless you've been frozen in time for 60 years, Captain America style - but it's not everyday that posters as lovely as these cross Empire's desk and we couldn't resist the urge to share them with you. The new posters - three quads and a dazzling one-sheet for Ealing's wartime propaganda thriller Went The Day Well? - are the handiwork of London-based graphic designer Sam Ashby.
The posters have been commissioned for the digitally restored re-releases of the four Ealing classics. If you haven't seen them on the big screen - and frankly, most of us haven't - now's the chance. Kind Hearts And Coronets, The Lavender Hill Mob and Whisky Galore! round out the releases.
No sign yet of The Ladykillers or The Man In The White Suite but you'd be pretty churlish to complain about a revival that involves Alec Guinness's astonishing comedy turn(s) in Kind Hearts or the Scottish shenanigans of Whisky Galore!.
**The Lavender Hill Mob **is back in cinemas today. Click here for a look behind the scenes of an Ealing gem.
