Update: Two Filthy new posters have landed, transporting James McAvoy's previously pig-riding copper Bruce Robertson onto a pair of his key stimulants - cash and grog - for a new Slim Pickens/Dr. Strangelove homaging skyride.

James McAvoy riding a pig might not be the most traditional way to advertise a film, but then Filth is hardly the most traditional film. But if this works, expect the next photoshoot for X-Men: Days Of Future **Past **to start at the zoo… {Filth Quad Poster}

McAvoy plays the scheming Robertson, a bigoted and corrupt policeman in line for a promotion who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, including Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal (John Sessions).

As he turns his colleagues against one another by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past is slowly catching up with him, as a missing wife, a crippling drug habit and suspicious colleagues start to take their toll on his sanity. The question is: can he keep his grip on reality long enough to disentangle himself from the filth?

Filth also features the likes of Imogen Poots, Eddie Marsan, Joanne Froggatt, Shirley Henderson and Shauna Macdonald, the film is ripped from the twisted Irvine Welsh novel by writer / director Jon S. Baird. It’ll creep into Scottish cinemas on September 27 and the rest of the UK on October 4.
