As a right-thinking filmgoer and intelligent person, the chances are that you are as wildly excited as we are to see Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. So we're very proud to present our exclusive new subscribers' cover for the November issue of Empire, revealing Matthew McConaughey's intrepid astronaut Cooper on an icy alien world. In fact, Nolan was personally involved in selecting this image for us.

As you'll know from the trailer below, the film sees Cooper and his fellow astronauts, including Anne Hathaway's Amelia Brand, head off to find a new home for humanity as the Earth lies dying. Their search takes them through a wormhole to other systems and planets, as the people they left behind await salvation.

Saving the world is just the latest stage of the McConnaissance, the star following his Oscar glory with Dallas Buyers Club, TV success with True Detective and, of course, this ultimate accolade of an **Empire **cover.

The film also stars Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, Mackenzie Foy and John Lithgow (who recently tweeted that he'd seen the film already and was blown away by it, before someone reminded him of the embargo and he deleted that tweet).
