Elysium TV Spot Arrives
Plus some new images
Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium remains one of the movies we’re most excited to see this year. And with the film not set to hit our screens until August, the marketing campaign is still in that coy, teasing stage where not every action sequence has been shown in the trailers. For now, go take a look at the new TV spot (really just an edit of earlier promos) and some new pictures in the gallery lower down the page.
Elysium blasts us to the year 2154, where society is split (as always) into the haves and have-nots. The rich and wealthy live on the titular orbiting platform, a paradise where every whim is catered to and even serious illnesses are a thing of the past.
Everyone else is reduced to scrabbling for what they can get on a ruined, filthy Earth. It’s here we find Max De Costa (Matt Damon), who is exposed to radiation while working and finds out he doesn’t have long to live. Unless, that is, he can break in to Elysium’s heavily guarded chambers and get the treatment he needs. Oh, and he may just have to save everyone else at the same time. But the task won’t be easy, particularly with the sniffy Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster) making sure the place stays secure and tough mercenary warrior Kruger (Sharlto Copley) carrying out her orders…
With Alice Braga, William Fichtner, Wagner Moura and Diego Luna among the cast, Elysium opens in the US on August 9 and lands here on August 23.
