Watchmen, created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, is widely regarded as the greatest graphic novel in history – and not without reason. So the pressure on a movie adaptation of that work is immense. Snyder has nailed the look of the comic, but without making it look slavish or too primary coloured. We love the tiny moment when you see the ink in Rorschach's mask start to shift. And the realisation of blue, naked, glowing Dr Manhattan is near faultless. Those costumes, which we weren't 100% convinced by in the first images, work brilliantly in motion. Our excitement levels just rose several notches. What do you think?
