La La Land Wins Big At The 2017 Golden Globes

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in LA LA LAND

Last night it was time for the group known as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to hand out its Golden Globe awards, which can be a divisive, quirky set of choices. La La Land had been the film to beat, having scored seven nominations (tied with Moonlight, which won the main Drama prize but none of its other categories), and the Globes definitely went the way of the musical romance, which nabbed all seven awards, a historical achievement, including Best Motion Picture, Musical Or comedy, Screenplay, Song, Score, director for Damien Chazelle, Ryan Gosling as Best Actor In A Musical Or Comedy and Emma Stone as Best Actress.

Aside from that success, Viola Davis picked up Best Supporting Actress for Fences, Disney's Zootopia (AKA Zootropolis) was named Best Animated Motion Picture and Elle won Best Foreign Language Motion Picture. Casey Affleck was named Best Actor In A Drama for Manchester By The Sea, while Elle's Isabelle Huppert won Best Actress In A Drama.

On the televisual front, it was a great night for The Night Manager, which scored Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories for Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman in the Limited Series category. On the drama front, The Crown was perhaps a surprising winner over the powerhouse that is Game Of Thrones and more heavily tipped newcomers including Westworld and This Is Us, while the show also took home Best Actress in a drama for Claire Foy. Donald Glover, meanwhile, also did well, picking up Best Actor (Musical Or Comedy) for Atlanta, while the show itself won its category.

Here, then, is the complete list of winners...
