Father of the Pride Review

Lion-y drama comes to DVD - if animals could talk eh?

As the first major CG-animated TV series, Father Of The Pride had the chance to usher in a new era in the saturated realm of adult animation. With writers and directors from such hits as Friends, Futurama and Family Guy, among others, the talent is there and the premise is a doozy: Las Vegas magic legends Siegfried and Roy rule over a town of animals, chiefly a family of white lions. Yet Pride’s comedy is an uneasy mix of crude and cuddly, often amusing but weak compared to its writers’ previous works. A second series might have ironed out the problems, but the fact it flopped Stateside makes that unlikely.
