Degrassi Junior High: Season 1

“Wake up in the morning, feeling shy and lonely, gee I gotta go to school…” If these lyrics ring a bell, this release of the Canadian show that spawned them should provoke ’80s nostalgia aplenty. While you may fondly recall the adventures of the geeks and heartthrobs, a contemporary viewing lays Degrassi’s agenda bare (beware the dangers of sex, booze, skimpy tops etc). But the show stands the test of time, if barely, capturing the awkwardness of adolescence within entertaining scenarios. That said, Joey Jeremiah doesn’t look quite so cool now.
