Surprisingly, its the Danny Boyle-directed pilot that is the least entertaining part of this drama-comedy about the British police force and an American PRs attempts to modernise it. As it progresses the series finds its tone, lightening up the dramatic side without losing any hold on the snaking mess of government politics and letting the comedy come from the catastrophic arrogance of the powerful.
