Kong: Skull Island

The DC movies didn't have the Warner Bros. San Diego Comic-Con panel to themselves. There was also one gigantic beast, known as King Kong, who appears (albeit briefly) in the first trailer for his new movie, Kong: Skull Island. Check out the footage below.

Given his effects-heavy nature, there are but tiny glimpses of the main attraction, though we do get plenty of Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and the others of the human cast of the film.

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the '70s-set film finds an expedition headed to the mysterious island, where the explorers encounter some very, very strange creatures. This is a place, after all, where giant throwbacks to a more primordial time lurk. Jackson claims it's time to show them that "man is king", but good luck with that. It's tough to judge from the brief footage whether Kong will himself be king of the blockbusters, but the trailer's a lot of fun. And yes, as promised, Mr. Kong is clearly quite a height, which bodes well for an eventual clash with Godzilla.

Kong: Skull Island will be out in the UK on March 10 next year.
