With his latest Dan Brown adaptation, Inferno, the team of director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer and star Tom Hanks, really seems to have ramped up the apocalyptic angle on the story. So prepare for visions and lots of threats in the latest trailer.

Inferno finds Hanks’ symbologist Robert Langdon in Italy, grappling with amnesia and a chilling puzzle revolving around Dante’s Inferno. He’ll face a new and cunning adversary and an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. And he’ll need the help of doctor Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), who aids him in recovering his memories even as they head out on his latest quest.

Not only is there a mad genius planning to wipe out half of the world's population, but some governments are interested in the virus, which means that Langdon is under even more threat than usual. While it verges occasionally on a parody of an overblown conspiracy thriller trailer, we'll wait and see what Howard, Hanks and co. (including scriptwriter David Koepp) have done with this one.

With Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy and Sidse Babett Knudsen also part of the cast, October 14 is the day Inferno will bring its blend of ticking clocks and ancient imagery to UK screens.
