Though it seemed as though the new film version of Cats scooped up half of Equity (and Taylor Swift) when the first casting announcement arrived, director Tom Hooper isn't finished rounding up actors to play felines. Laurie Davidson, star of short-lived Stateside Shakespeare series Will, has joined the ensemble.

Like most of his cast mates, Davidson's character is being kept under wraps for now. All we do know is that Ian McKellen, James Corden, Swift and Jennifer Hudson, who is reportedly on to be Grizabella, are starring in the Lee Hall-scripted adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musical, itself bringing a story loosely based on TS Eliot's tome Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats to stages worldwide.

With Universal and Working Title providing the backing, Cats will be out on 20 December next year. As for Davidson, he'll next be seen in con artist drama The Good Liar, which coincidentally stars McKellen. The film doesn't have a set release date, but should hit screens in 2019.
