Do you like fun with flags? Specifically, American flags waving gently in the breeze? Or plastered on the side of giant rockets? Then the new trailer for First Man is for you!

This time around, the focus is more on history, with a side order of drama, as the various footage snippets are soundtracked by JFK's famous 1962 speech about the aim to put an astronaut on the moon.

And First Man chronicles part of the quest that followed, with Ryan Gosling playing Neil Armstrong, who would – spoiler alert for one of the most famous events in world history – eventually end up walking on the lunar surface. La La Land director Damien Chazelle's latest focuses on the struggles and challenges that the space programme presented, and how it impacted Armstrong, his NASA colleagues and, most vitally, his family, led by wife Janet (Claire Foy).

It's been drawing some excited buzz about potential awards love, and we've had our say. UK audiences will have the chance to make their minds up on 12 October, the same date as the US.
