Though we've already met Mike Colter's Luke Cage thanks to his appearances in Jessica Jones, audiences have been waiting to hear when we'll see the man with the impenetrable skin in his own series. Thanks to Colter himself showing up at the premiere for the new season of Daredevil, we now know that Marvel and Netflix's Luke Cage will premiere on September 30.

Filling the autumn slot that was used last year for Jones (though that first hit the streaming service in November), Cage is likely to delve into Luke's superhero origin story, showing he got his strength and durability thanks to a sabotaged experiment in prison. He ends up a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in Harlem, but is pulled out of the shadows to battle a new threat to his city, while also confronting the demons of his past.

Joining Colter in the series are Mahershala Ali, Theo Rossi, Alfre Woodard, Frankie Faison, Simone Missick, Frank Whaley and, of course, the Defenders' main connective character, Claire Temple, played as usual, by Rosario Dawson. We'll also get to meet Claire's mother Soledad, played by Sonia Braga.

With Cheo Hodari Coker as showrunner, the series promises another compelling lead character and hopefully another angle on life in New York.
