Michael Fassbender has pursued mutants in X-Men, Nazis in Inglourious Basterds, aliens in Prometheus and an ancient Persian army in 300. Now he faces his most dastardly foe yet: a humble hare. Check out Fassbender embark on what is sure to be this year’s most unlikely movie car chase in this exclusive clip from upcoming drama Trespass Against Us.

Fassbender here plays Chad, a member of the Irish travelling community, looking to escape the shackles of family to provide a more stable upbringing for his kids. The problem for Chad is his father, Colby (Brendan Gleeson), who wants his son to remain within the itinerant traveller tradition. “We’re dealing with very difficult dilemmas for this family,” Fassbender told Empire for a recent issue, “but it never feels like preaching. It’s an honest and visceral story.”

“One of the issues is whether we’re stereotyping travellers,” says Brendan Gleeson. “I’ve known travelling people, and they can do without negative stereotyping.” But the Cutler family are outsiders, even within their community. “They are too much trouble — nobody wants them,” adds Gleeson. “It’s almost as if Colby has declared war on everyone else.”

We’ll see how that war turns out – and if that hare makes it out alive – when Trespass Against Us arrives in UK cinemas from Friday 3 March.
