Just last week, we reported on Ben Foster signing up to star in new based-on-truth historical drama Medieval. Director Petr Jákl has now locked in someone to co-star, as Michael Caine is joining the cast.

The Czech writer/director's new film will follow the story of national hero Zizka (AKA Jan Zizka of Trocnov), a revered military tactician who defeated armies of the Teutonic Order and the Holy Roman Empire. He is known for his innovative strategies and for quickly training peasants to face skilled and armored opponents who usually outnumbered his own troops. The film will also focus on his relationship with a local heiress and his face off against a rival King.

Caine will play Lord Boresh, the right hand man of Czech King Wenceslaus IV, with the cameras due to kick off shooting this autumn in and around Prague. Next up for the actor is King Of Thieves, which will arrive in cinemas on the 14th of this month.
