Just a couple of months ago, word broke that Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' Rupert Wyatt would be dipping back into a sci-fi world for a new, original tale Captive State. And now John Goodman has signed on to star.

Wyatt wrote the script alongside his wife, Erica Beeney, but has thus far not revealed any details about what the story might be. So beyond the fact that it's a science fiction story, we can only guess what the title might mean. Could it be a warning about a dystopian future where the prison population is massive? A story of someone held prisoner by another? After all, Goodman has some form on that front after 10 Cloverfield Lane, but again, Variety offers no details of what his role will actually be thing time around.

Participant Media will be backing the movie after winning a hard-fought contest for the rights and eOne planning to release the finished movie in the UK.

Goodman will be back on our screens in Kong: Skull Island, which is out here on 10 March next year.
