We have just over a month to wait now until mighty mutant Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac, looking like something that would even give Poe Dameron second thoughts about attacking) threatens our assorted heroes, undecideds and newcomers in X-Men: Apocalypse. And not content with arty Horsemen imagery and dominating this month's issue, here comes a new group of character posters.

While poor old Jubilation Lee (Lana Condor) and Rose Byrne's Moira MacTaggert must still be feeling a little hard done by, almost everyone else from the main cast has a poster, with Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik "Magneto" Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) above. The story will bring the old friends and occasional frenemies into true conflict when Apocalypse, awakening in 1983 after millennia asleep, discovers the state of humanity and decides that he needs to reboot the world according to his ideas. Cue destruction, chaos and the big bad recruiting Magneto, Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Angel (Ben Hardy) to his cause with some niftily boosted powers. Check out Mr. Angry and three of his "Horsemen" below.

On the heroic side, Charles and old pal Hank "Beast" McCoy (Nicholas Hoult) have been busy filling their school for gifted youngsters with new students who they'll regrettably have to press into service to fight this looming danger. Many of the new arrivals are actually old faces in the years before we meet them back in the first or second of director Bryan Singer's original films, including Scott "Cyclops" Summers (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee).

And finally, we have Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, who despite her appearance on this poster, has largely been eschewing her blue form, worried what it signifies. She's battling to help oppressed or exploited mutants in her own way, but realises she'll need to join forces with Charles and the nascent X-Men team to battle Apocalypse alongside Quicksilver (Evan Peters), who we met in Days Of Future Past, and who decides he'll help out too.
