After years in development, numerous actors and directors attached and a flock of script drafts, it appears the new movie adaptation of James O'Barr's cult graphic novel series The Crow will start shooting in January, with Jason Momoa in the lead and Corin Hardy directing.
The report comes from The Wrap's sources, and while no official announcement has been made, it appears likely that Hardy – who had been chosen as director, then removed in a studio wrangle, but is now back in place – will finally be able to get the cameras rolling early next year.
Momoa, who has been busy on Justice League as Aquaman and will return to the character for his stand-alone adventure after his duties on The Crow are complete, posted on Instagram recently about his meeting with Hardy to, in his words, seal the deal.
Not much is known about the vision for the new movie, though it's expected to stick to the story of tragic musician Eric Draven, who is brought back from the grave to seek vengeance against those who murdered him and his fiancee. The plan is for a new version based on O'Barr's writing that will hew even more faithfully to the source than Alex Proyas' 1994 film.
