Milla Jovovich has usually found time to fit in other films around her schedule making Resident Evil outings, but with the zombie-battling franchise now wrapping up, she'll have even more space on her schedule. She's joining a new James Franco film, dystopian indie drama Future World.

Taking a break from literary adaptations (or telling the story of his favourite so-bad-it's-fun film), the ever-eclectic Franco has come up with a new idea, which Bruce Thierry Cheung, Jay Davis and Jeremy Cheung have turned into a script. Franco and Bruce Chung are directing, with the former also playing a role.

Future World will tell the story of a lad of noble birth trying to survive in a ruined civilisation ravaged by heat, disease and war. He'll have to make a perilous journey through the wasteland to find medicine for his ailing mother, with his faithful bodyguard for company. And there's the looming threat of the warlord of the world, who has just obtained control of a beautiful, life-like robot assassin. That sounds like the sort of role Jovovich can play easily given her usual ass-kicking skills, though her exact character isn't specified in Deadline's report.

Singer and actor George Lewis Jr. is also in the cast, playing someone called Ratcatcher, but there's no word on when this one will start shooting. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be out here on February 24 next year.
