After proving he's got the chops in both acting and writing, Paul Dano has turned to directing for novel adaptation Wildlife. Check out the first teaser for the film, which stars Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal.

With Zoe Kazan sharing scripting duties on a film based on Richard Ford's eponymous novel, Wildlife finds Mulligan as Jeanette, the lynchpin of a 1960s nuclear family in small town Montana.

Jerry (Gyllenhaal), her husband, is a golf pro who suddenly loses his job. With his spirit crushed and his ego bruised, he throws himself into helping fight the giant forest fire raging nearby, leaving Jeanette and son Joe (Ed Oxenbould) to cope, and forcing Joe to grow up more quickly than he might.

A period drama with a challenging story might sound like a tough nut to crack as your first film, but Dano has won praise for his efforts, with the drama screening at the Sundance Film Festival and wining a slot at Cannes. It'll be out in the States on 19 October and arrives in the UK on 9 November.
