UPDATE: Ziyi Zhang has also signed on to the film{ =nofollow}, to play one of the astroscientists crewing the station.

New sci-i thriller God Particle, which boasts J.J. Abrams as a producer, is continuing to gather an interesting cast to send to the International Space Station (or at least a soundstage pretending to be the station, unless the budget's a lot bigger than we think). The latest addition is Chris O'Dowd.

Oren Uziel's script is largely still being kept a mystery, but we do know that it's about astronauts on the ISS making a terrifying discovery that changes all they know about reality, and the idea of the Earth vanishing after an experiment is conducted in the Large Hadron Collider. But when a space shuttle appears, they have to decide whether the new arrival is a friend or foe.

David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Elizabeth Debicki and Daniel Brühl are already aboard, and O'Dowd will take over the role that John Krasinski had circled before dropping out of contention.

Julius Onah is in the director's chair for the film, which will shoot this year ahead of a February 24 release date.
