While a little chunk of Elvis Presley's life was brought to the screen in the semi-fictionalised Elvis & Nixon earlier this year, Weinstein Television has a plan to cover all of it in a big biopic TV series that will mark the first to shoot at his famous former home, Graceland.

With the collaboration of his ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, the series will dig into the Elvis archives stored at the sprawling location to tell the story of the rock 'n' roll legend and sometime movie actor. And Dave Marsh's 1982 book Elvis will be the primary source material.

"To this day, Elvis is one of the few that lives up to the word ‘icon’. He is one of the most celebrated entertainers of all time whose influence surpasses the music he created." says Harvey Weinstein. "People’s fascination with his story goes beyond the stage and this biopic will pay homage to his brilliant legacy and give viewers an in-depth look at how he became The King."

"I’m a big fan of Harvey Weinstein’s independent films,” says Priscilla Presley. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him on this show and tell the story of how Elvis changed the culture of music and initiated a revolution that changed the world." There's no sign of a broadcast venue yet, but Weinstein and his team will be offering the rights around soon, and we'd expect plenty of interest given the ever-powerful popularity of the man himself, long after his death.
