If it truly does represent Daniel Day-Lewis' final acting job, Paul Thomas Anderson's latest, Phantom Thread carries a huge burden on its shoulders. We're getting a new, brief look at the drama via a teaser that pimps Stateside preview screenings.

Set in the glamour of 1950s post-war London, renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the centre of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites, debutants and dames with the distinct style of The House of Woodcock.

Women come and go through Woodcock’s life, providing the confirmed bachelor with inspiration and companionship, until he comes across a young, strong-willed woman, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover. Once controlled and planned, he finds his carefully tailored life disrupted by love...

It represents a definite change of pace and locale for Anderson, but looks just as full of his careful attention to detail. And, of course, Day-Lewis at the centre of it all.

After those late November Stateside screenings advertised in the trailer, the film will have a limited Christmas Day release to qualify it for awards, but UK audiences will have to wait until 2 February to see it.
