David Mackenzie's Hell Or High Water was a favourite for many of us last year, ranking high on top 10 lists, landing four Oscar nominations and winning a host of other awards. The director is aiming to get the band back together, with Chris Pine locking down a deal and Ben Foster in talks for Outlaw King.

Deadline reports that Netflix – which has yet to officially confirm that the movie is in the works – is figuring out the details to back the ambitious period drama that will look to tell a new take on the real-life story of Robert The Bruce.

While the Scottish king has appeared in various films including Braveheart, Mackenzie is looking to restore some of his dignity, helping to win Scotland's freedom from the oppressive rule of England (some very topical themes here). Mackenzie wrote the script, and has Pine ready to play the king, with Foster in talks to be James Douglas, a Scottish knight who ends up becoming one of his chief advisors.

All being well, Mackenzie should be shooting this one during August in Scotland and seems likely to leapfrog over any other potential projects. After Hell Or High Water, we're eager to see this trio tackle anything they want. The director most recently made the pilot for a new US TV series called Damnation
