Almost a year ago, we learned of Jason Flemyng's intent to direct his first film, with a vampire tale that was then called Reign Of Blood. Now it goes by the punnier title of Eat Local and will star Daredevil's Charlie Cox alongside Mackenzie Crook, Dexter Fletcher, Freema Agyeman, Eve Miles Ruth Jones, Annette Crosbie, Vincent Regan and Billy Cook.

The story follows Essex chancer Sebastian (Cook) who thinks he's in for a night of passion when a seductive older woman takes a fancy to him. But when she whisks him to a remote farmhouse, he discovers that he's actually going to be a plaything for a coven of vampires. Things get even more complicated when a heavily armed squad of vampire hunters storm the party...

Flemyng has already started the cameras rolling in Hertfordshire and will be busy on the film until late next month. He tells Deadline that it's "been through so many different budgets and guises, but me and [writer] Danny King have worked together and finally we’re here. We’re three days into shooting and 50 per cent of what we’re doing is better than I could have imagined and 50 per cent is as good as I could have hoped. Everyone is working really hard with budgets they haven’t seen for 20 years and the actors are working for beer & lunch money. But we’re doing it, we’ve pulled it together, and I’m so thrilled."

We can't wait to see how this one turns out, and hopefully it'll secure distribution quickly.
