The daring, one-last-job-style heist that happened last year in Hatton Garden is proving to be a treasure trove of source material for movies. Working Title already has James Marsh developing one, and here comes some competition, which has already snagged Brian Cox and Tom Courtenay to star.

Diamond Geezers (for that is the slightly pun-happy title) has Cox and Courtenay playing two of the older thieves who pulled off one of the most infamous heists in recent memory. A gang of old-school raiders looted vaults in London's Diamond Quarter and scored around £200 million in precious gems.

Ben Cookson is in the director's chair and is working on the script alongside Tony O'Leary and The Sting's Oscar winning scribe David S. Ward. With GSP studios providing the backing, the cameras should be rolling in January. "For me, the most important element was putting together a prestigious cast that reflects the ambitious and audacious crime itself," says Cookson. "With Brian and Tom attached, we are assembling the calibre of cast I dreamed of and as a young director, I’m excited to make a film that resonates with an audience across the generations." Now they just need a Phil Collins soundtrack, and they're sorted.
