It's been a while since we've seen Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in an out-and-out gag-fest (no, Terminator Genisys doesn't count) but he's ready to flex his laugh muscles again for a new action comedy called Why We're Killing Gunther.

The new film marks the directorial debut of Saturday Night Live regular Taran Killam, who is pulling triple duty here by also writing the scripting taking one of the ensemble's roles alongside Cobie Smulders (Marvel's Maria Hill, who also happens to be Killam's wife), SNL colleague Bobby Moynihan, old acting pal Paul Brittain, Silicon Valley's Kumail Nanjiani, The Interview's Randall Park and Identity Thief's Ryan Gaul.

Gunther's story has nothing to do with the perpetually lovelorn manager of Central Perk on Friends, but instead finds a group of international assassins becoming increasingly annoyed with the world's greatest hitman. Gunther's arrogant, showy nature irks them, and they decided to off him – which isn't as easy as it sounds, since he always appears to be one step ahead.

Killam, who has also been seen in movies such as 12 Years A Slave and The Heat, is aiming to have the cameras rolling in June during his hiatus from SNL. No studio is attached yet, but the rights to the film will be sold at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
