With the announcement that Netflix had snapped up Andy Serkis' take on the Jungle Book story, Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle, some worried that this might mean it'd never see the inside of a cinema. But that's not the case, as the streaming service is planning a brief theatrical run. And there's a new trailer online for the film too.

More directly adapting Rudyard Kipling's book, Serkis still tackles some of the big beats of Mowgli's (Rohan Chand), raised by wolves in the jungle and torn between the worlds of humanity and animals.

Serkis takes on the role of Baloo and he's rounded up an all-star voice/performance capture cast to bring the other jungle dwellers to life, with Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Mullan, Naomie Harris and Tom Hollander also involved. On the human side of things, we have Matthew Rhys and Freida Pinto.

Mowgli will now premiere with a limited cinematic release on November 29 in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and London before hitting Netflix on 7 December. And after that, the company also plans a wider cinema schedule here and in the States.
