Original Title:

Wakolda

The premise of a dollmaker's wife allowing a notorious Nazi doctor (Àlex Brendemühl) to treat her ailing children is chilling. But Lucía Puenzo fails to generate sufficient suspense by approaching this saga set in 1960s Patagonia like a fairy tale rather than a horror story.

Too shy of heading in the dark directions the subject matter demands, it's nonetheless an effectively spun story.
