Shift over Keanu, there’s a new feline in town and he’s after your catnip. A Street Cat Named Bob is the true-life tale of uplift, redemption and beating the odds about one man and his four-legged friend. Will it be totally paw-esome or utterly, um, fur-gettable? Have a look at the new trailer for clues, while we try to turn this automatic pun generator off.

Luke Treadaway is James Bowen, a young, homeless man coping with substance abuse problems and whose fractured family life offers little help. Then one day a ginger cat enters his life (through the window) and the two become inseparable.

In real life, Bowen and Bob soon became fixtures on their pitch in Covent Garden, where the former’s musical gifts and the latest’s range of knitted scarfs and feline nonchalance made them hugely popular with locals and tourists alike. All this will be captured in Tim John’s adaptation of Bowen’s own bestseller, with one-time 007 director Roger Spottiswoode calling the shots around London.
