Sony and Marvel seem to be confident in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Because the sequel already has a release date in mind, sticking a flag in 5 July, 2019.
The first trailer(s) for the new incarnation of Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland (and introduced by an appearance in Captain America: Civil War) arrived last week and can be seen via the link below. And yes, there will be those who say that Sony was bullish about The Amazing Spider-Man, and that didn't make it past two movies, even with a potential set of spin-offs brewing.
But there seems to be a lot more genuine confidence about Homecoming, and not just its stronger links to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland's portrayal of Parker already has the thumbs up and the new movie promises to have him be a true teenager dealing with school pressures as well as the small matter of villains such as Michael Keaton's Vulture. Homecoming will be out on 7 July.
And the release date means a move for Sony's planned Bad Boys 4 (no, not Bad Boys For Life, which is still taking aim at a January 2018 slot). The fourth Bad Boys movie, assuming the studio truly makes another one that quickly) had been set up in 3 July 2019, but is moving to 24 May that year.
