The Revenant’s Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu wins at the Directors Guild awards

The guild awards cycle moved on to the Directors Guild of America on Saturday night, and Alejandro González Iñárritu headed back to the podium after last year's win for Birdman and picked up the Feature Film award for The Revenant.

We're also happy to see that Alex Garland picked up another award for Ex Machina, scoring the First-Time Feature Film Prize. And kudos to Veep's Chris Addison for the TV prize.

Elsewhere, it was a blend of regular winners (Game Of Thrones often scores such awards) and new faces, such as Cartel Land's Matthew Heineman).

So what does the DGA win for Iñárritu tell us? Mostly that the Oscar race is still wide open in terms of the big categories, but it's got to make him once more the clear favorite to take Best Director. To see more on Oscar prognostication, see our guide here. The full list of DGA winners is below.
