The Return of Eliot Ness Review

It's Chicago in 1947 and Al Capone has just died of syphilis, prompting a renewed burst of gang war as hoods try to carve up the remains of Big Al's empire, doing their bit for progress by using war-surplus bazookas to slaughter each other. When an allegedly corrupt cop gets caught in his crossfire, a legendary craggy face turns up for the funeral and takes to the streets with his favourite tommy gun to clear his friend's name and leave a few new generation mobsters bleeding in the gutter, Robert Stack, 30 years on from the Untouchables TV series, plays Ness 15 years on from his well-known successes, but this trite TV come-back sadly neglects Ness' interesting but unheroic failures in later life in favour of a standard gangster fantasy.
