Original Title:

Proteus 78

Craig Fairbrass, wash up on an abandoned oil rig used for secret genetic experiments, and find a slime-dripping, shape-shifting monster named Charly, which was, in a previous life, a great white shark. Maulings and mayhem ensue with the band of smugglers running, hiding and swimming for their lives.

Little more than a watered-down Alien meets The Thing, this 80s-style horror yarn manages to raise a modicum of suspense and plays a little on the cliched 'rats in a trap' scenario, but is let down by some histrionic acting and the worst movie monster in a very, very long time.

Worth seeing for the quality of the monster.
