The moment when young soprano Christine (Mary Philbin) unmasks the shrivelled visage of her protector/ kidnapper has never lost its power to shock. Equally impressive is the Phantom's entrance during a masked ball - this print presents the scene in two-colour Technicolor with the Red Death costume making a bloody impact.
Lon Chaney's magnetism and the overall impact of the suspense and reveal is still impressive.
